Why Bambu Lab X2D might be the best Bambu Lab printer till date?

Because it exactly does what you want it to do...
Look at the X2D spec sheet and the two nozzles are obviously not twins. The main one is a direct-drive extruder on a closed-loop servo motor, hardened steel gears, the good stuff. The auxiliary one is fed by a Bowden extruder bolted to the back of the machine, driven by an ordinary stepper motor, with the filament travelling a long tube to reach the toolhead.
A lot of reviewers read that as a cost cut. It is a cost cut. It is also exactly the right one, because of what the second nozzle is for.
On every single-nozzle printer, including the P2S and the X1C before it, printing a model in one material and its supports in another means one nozzle doing both jobs in turns. Every switch is a purge: the old filament gets pushed out and thrown away so the new one comes through clean. On a print with hundreds of layer changes you end up with a waste tower that can weigh more than the part.
The X2D just does not do that. Model material lives in the left nozzle, support material lives in the right one, and neither has to make way for the other. 3D Printing Industry described the design as separating model and support at the hardware level rather than relying on purge-based transitions, which is a formal way of saying the waste tower stops existing.
And because the support nozzle is dedicated, you can load something into it that was never meant to touch a model. Bambu's own compatibility table clears the auxiliary nozzle for Support for PLA, Support for PLA/PETG, Support for ABS, Support for PA/PET and PVA, the water-soluble one. Print PETG on the left, Support for PLA/PETG on the right, and the two materials refuse to bond. The supports come away in sheets with a thumbnail. No pliers, no scars, no sanding the underside of every overhang.
Does it matter that the Bowden side is slower and slightly rougher? Not much, when all it prints is a support interface. One owner writing up 200 hours on the machine made the point well: you print supports slowly anyway so they do not snap off and turn into spaghetti, so the slower extruder costs you almost nothing on the job it was given.
What actually gets faster, and what does not
This is where a lot of the coverage is sloppy, so let us be precise, because it changes whether the machine is worth it to you.
Two nozzles do not reliably cut your wall-clock print time. Owners have gone looking for that saving and come up empty. There is a whole thread on Bambu's forum of people finding X2D estimates no better than an older single-nozzle P1, because the auxiliary nozzle runs roughly 20 to 40 percent slower than the main one and its default profile drops acceleration hard. Give the aux nozzle a lot of geometry and it will give the time back.
What genuinely collapses is different, and more valuable:
- Purge waste. No tool change means no flush. The filament that used to become a waste tower stays on the spool.
- Your time, not the machine's. The half hour with flush cutters and a craft knife after every support-heavy print simply goes away. If you print organic shapes, figures, anything with curves underneath, this is the largest single time cost in your workflow and the X2D deletes it.
- Rework. Supports that fuse to the model take surfaces with them when they come off. A dissimilar support interface does not fuse, so you stop reprinting parts you damaged while cleaning them.
So yes, it saves time. Just not on the number the slicer shows you. It saves it on the part of the job you were not counting, which is the part you actually hate.

The heated chamber is the quieter half of the argument
The dual nozzle gets the headlines. The chamber is the feature that changes what the machine can make.
The X2D actively heats its chamber to 65C. Not "enclosed", not "passively warm from the bed" the way the X1 Carbon was. Heated, deliberately, with the temperature held. Pair that with a 300C nozzle and a 120C bed and ABS, ASA, PA and PC stop being a gamble.
This matters more in India than the review sites let on. Warping is a temperature-gradient problem: the bottom of a tall ABS part is hot, the top has already cooled and shrunk, the layers fight each other and the corners lift off the plate. A passive enclosure slows that down. An actively heated chamber removes the gradient, so layers bond edge to edge and the part comes off flat. If you have ever given up on ASA halfway through a build, that is the fix, and until the X2D you had to buy an H-series machine to get it.
Bambu also gave it the H-series filtration stack: a G3 pre-filter, an H12 HEPA layer and a granular coconut-shell carbon filter, versus activated carbon alone on the P2S. That is not a spec-sheet flourish when the printer lives in a flat, which in most Indian homes it does. We have written before about which materials you can print without an enclosure at all; the X2D is the other end of that argument, the machine that makes the awkward materials routine.
Where the money actually lands in India
Indian pricing is not a straight conversion of the US number, so here is the ladder as it stood in July 2026 at authorised resellers like 3idea and Ideal3D. Printer prices move constantly and Bambu discounts hard around sale periods, so treat these as the shape of the lineup rather than a quote, and check the reseller before you buy.
- P2S: about Rs 71,999 on its own, Rs 1,02,999 with AMS 2 Pro. Single nozzle, no chamber heater.
- X2D: about Rs 98,999 on its own, Rs 1,32,999 with AMS 2 Pro. Dual nozzle, 65C active chamber.
- X1 Carbon: around Rs 1,29,000, Rs 1,50,000 as a combo, and discontinued. Stock is what is left.
- H2S combo: from about Rs 1,54,999. Bigger plate, single nozzle.
- H2D: from about Rs 2,19,999, or Rs 2,46,999 with AMS. Bigger, 350C nozzle, optional laser.
- H2C combo: about Rs 3,09,999. The multi-material production machine.
Read that list twice and the position is obvious. The X2D undercuts the X1 Carbon it replaces by roughly Rs 30,000 while adding a second nozzle, a heated chamber and better filtration. It undercuts the H2D by more than a lakh. Against the H2C the gap is over two lakh. Everything above it on this ladder is bought for build volume, a 350C nozzle, or the laser module, and if you do not need one of those three things specifically, the extra money buys you nothing you will use.
One honest correction to the international coverage, though. Overseas reviewers keep repeating that the X2D is "only $100 more than the P2S", and on Bambu's own site that is roughly true. In India the gap is closer to Rs 27,000 between the base machines. Still worth it, in our view, for a heated chamber and a support nozzle. But it is a real Rs 27,000, not the rounding error the YouTube verdicts imply, and you should decide with the Indian number in front of you.
The fine print worth reading before you pay
We would rather you buy this knowingly than be surprised in week two. The compromises are real and they all sit on the auxiliary side.
- The aux nozzle loses build area. The main nozzle gets the full 256 x 256 x 260 mm. Anything involving the second nozzle drops to 235.5 x 256 x 256 mm, so you give up about 20 mm of width.
- No clog detection on the Bowden side. The simple stepper feeding the aux nozzle does not carry the jam and grinding sensors the main path has.
- You cannot mix nozzle sizes. The obvious idea, a 0.6 mm for supports and a 0.2 mm for detail, is not supported. Bambu's support team confirmed on the forum that there are no current plans for it.
- 300C is the ceiling. Enough for ABS, ASA, PA, PC and most carbon-fibre blends. Not enough for PPS-CF or PPA-CF, which need the 350C H-series hotend.
- Bambu wants its own filament in the aux nozzle. Third-party spools are allowed but officially discouraged there, and PCMag's review confirms the secondary nozzle is measurably less precise than the primary.
Notice that every item on that list is about using the second nozzle as a second printer. Used as a support nozzle, which is the job it was designed for, none of them bite.
Who should buy something else instead
The X2D is the best Bambu for most people. It is not the best Bambu for everyone, and the honest cases are short.
Buy the P2S if you print PLA and PETG in one material and have no intention of changing. You will never load the second nozzle, you will never turn on the chamber heater, and you would be paying Rs 27,000 for hardware that sits idle. It remains an excellent machine and we said so in our printer reliability ranking.
Buy an H-series machine if your parts genuinely exceed 256 mm, if you need 350C for PPS-CF or PPA-CF, or if the laser and cutting modules are part of the plan. Those are the only three tickets worth the extra lakh.
Buy an A-series machine if this is your first printer. A heated chamber and a support nozzle are not what a beginner is short of. The 200-hour reviewer above reached the same conclusion, and so did we when we argued against starting on the A1 mini for the wrong reasons.
Do not buy the X1 Carbon at all, at any discount you are likely to be offered. It is discontinued, its software support window closes years before the X2D's, and the machine that replaced it costs less. This is the same trap we laid out in our list of Bambu printers to skip: the discount looks generous right up until you check the launch date.
One last thing, if you are buying the combo. The AMS 2 Pro is doing real work in that box, and it is the version with active drying rather than a sealed shell, which matters a great deal if you are printing PVA supports in Mumbai humidity. So: is the best printer the most expensive one? Not this year, not at Bambu. The X2D is what happens when a company puts its two genuinely useful new features, a support nozzle and a heated chamber, in the machine most people can actually afford, and leaves build volume and laser modules to the ones who need them. That is a strange thing for a manufacturer to do. It is a very good thing for you.
