A resin 3D printer prints detail that a filament 3D printer cannot. That is the entire reason to own one. Take a 32 mm tabletop miniature, the standard size for wargaming figures. A filament printer builds it by squeezing molten plastic through a nozzle that is usually 0.4 mm wide, so chainmail, eyelids and a thin sword blade all arrive as the same soft ridge. A resin printer works differently: it sits a tank of liquid plastic on top of an LCD screen, shines ultraviolet light through the screen, and hardens a whole layer at once wherever the screen lets light through. The pixels on that screen are around 20 microns across, which is a fiftieth of a millimetre. The face comes out as a face.

Getting one in India in 2026 is genuinely easy, which was not true five years ago. Elegoo, Anycubic, Phrozen, Creality and Uniformation machines all sit in stock with Indian sellers who issue a GST invoice and honour a local warranty, and Amazon India carries most of the popular models directly. A capable resin printer now costs less than a mid-range phone. Nobody needs to import one and gamble on customs.

The awkward part, and the thing most buying guides skip, is that the printer is the cheaper half of the decision. Liquid resin is a skin sensitiser, meaning repeated contact can make you permanently allergic to it, and it gives off fumes you do not want to sleep next to. Every print comes out wet and has to be washed in alcohol and then cured under ultraviolet light before it is safe to handle. That is a workflow, not a purchase. It is worth knowing before you spend, not after.

So this is a list of resin printers I could actually find in stock at Indian sellers in August 2026, with the price each was selling at, what the machine is genuinely good at, and what it will not do. Prices in this market move a lot - the same printer swings by ten thousand rupees between a festival sale and a quiet week - so treat every number here as a band rather than a quote, and check the seller before you buy.

How a resin printer works

Almost every resin printer sold to hobbyists today uses the same method, called MSLA, short for masked stereolithography. It belongs to the family of processes known as vat photopolymerisation, which we covered alongside every other production method in 3D printing methods, every method you should know. The parts are simple enough to name.

  • The vat is the shallow tank that holds the liquid resin. Its floor is a thin transparent sheet called the release film - older machines use FEP, newer ones use nFEP or ACF, which peel away from a hardening layer with less force.
  • The screen sits under the vat. It is a monochrome LCD panel that blacks out everything except the shape of the current layer, so ultraviolet light from the lamp below reaches only the resin that should harden.
  • The build plate is a metal plate that dips into the resin, and the print grows downwards from it, hanging upside down, one layer at a time.

Two numbers describe the result. XY resolution is the width of one screen pixel in microns, and it sets how fine a detail the machine can physically draw. Build volume is how big a print fits. Marketing usually leads with a screen resolution instead - 9K, 12K, 14K, 16K - which is the pixel count across the whole panel, and it means nothing on its own, because a 16K panel spread over a bigger screen can have coarser pixels than a 9K panel on a small one. Read the micron figure, not the K.

What made a printer eligible for this list

Three filters, applied in order. First, an Indian seller had it listed in stock in August 2026 - either Amazon India, or a specialist like Robocraze, 3D Protofarm, 3Idea, Hydrotech 3D, WOL3D or 3Ding. Second, it is a machine the manufacturer still sells and supports, not old stock being cleared. Third, spare screens and release film for it can be bought, because both are consumables and a printer you cannot re-film is a printer with an expiry date.

Within that, I have leaned on hands-on testing from people who run these machines for a living rather than on spec sheets: Tom's Hardware, 3DWithUs and FauxHammer, who tests specifically for miniatures.

Resin printers under Rs 40,000

This is where almost everybody should start. The build volumes are small, roughly the size of a large mug, but the detail is identical to what the expensive machines produce, because pixel size at this end is as fine as anything above it.

Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra

The default recommendation, and the one I would buy first. It has a 7-inch 9K screen with 18 micron pixels, a build volume of 153 x 78 x 165 mm, and it runs at up to 150 mm of print height per hour. The features that matter are the ones that remove failure rather than add specs: automatic levelling, so you never set the gap between plate and screen by hand; resin level detection, so it warns you before a long print runs the tank dry; a tilt-release vat, which tips sideways to peel each finished layer off the film instead of yanking it straight up, which is what snaps thin supports; and a camera so you can look at a print from your phone.

Best for: a first resin printer, miniatures, jewellery masters, small detailed parts.
Watch out for: the build volume is genuinely small. A 28 cm cosplay helmet is not happening on this, in one piece or otherwise.

Anycubic Photon Mono 4 Ultra

The direct rival, and on paper slightly ahead: a 7-inch 10K screen with 17 micron pixels, a build volume of 153 x 87 x 165 mm, ACF release film as standard, and up to 120 mm per hour with fast-curing resin. It uses a pressure sensor in the build plate rather than a tilting vat, which lets it detect the resin level and adjust its peeling speed as it goes.

Best for: the same jobs as the Mars 5 Ultra, at a slightly lower price and a slightly taller build area.
Watch out for: Anycubic's own slicing software, Photon Workshop, is the weaker of the two ecosystems. Most owners end up using ChiTuBox or Lychee instead - a slicer is the program that converts your 3D model into the stack of layer images the printer actually shows on its screen.

Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K S

A deliberately plain machine with an excellent screen. It has a 7.1-inch 8K panel at 22 micron pixels and a build volume of 165 x 72 x 170 mm, and that is close to the whole story. No Wi-Fi, no camera, no pressure sensing, one linear rail on the Z axis instead of two, and file transfer over USB stick only. FauxHammer still rates it the best small printer of 2026, because what it does have is a well-behaved light source and a print that comes out right.

Best for: someone who wants print quality and does not care about convenience features.
Watch out for: everything the other two automate, you do by hand, including levelling. It is also the narrowest build area here at 72 mm deep.

Resin printers from Rs 45,000 to Rs 90,000

Step up here and you are buying build volume and convenience, not detail. A 10-inch screen roughly triples the plate area, which matters enormously if you print in batches, and barely at all if you print one figure a week.

Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 12K

The machine most reviewers land on as the overall pick, and I agree with them. A 10-inch 12K screen at 19 x 24 micron pixels, a build volume of about 219 x 123 x 220 mm, 150 mm per hour, the same tilt-release vat and automatic levelling as the Mars 5 Ultra, and no requirement to use a proprietary resin. It is the smallest jump in price that buys a genuinely different capability.

Best for: batch printing miniatures, larger single models, anyone who already knows they will print a lot.
Watch out for: a bigger vat means more resin sitting in the machine, so a failed print wastes more of it.

Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra 16K

The same printer with three fixes rather than a new engine. The screen goes to 16K over a slightly smaller 212 x 118 x 220 mm area, the build plate gains handles, the camera gains a light so it can actually see the print in a dark enclosure, and - the change that matters most - the vat is heated. Resin cures badly when it is cold and thick, so a heated vat is the difference between a printer that works in December in Delhi and one that sulks.

Best for: anyone printing in a cold room, or who wants the Saturn with its rough edges filed off.
Watch out for: the resolution bump from 12K to 16K is close to invisible in the hand. You are paying the extra seven thousand for the heater and the handles, and that is a fine reason to pay it.

Anycubic Photon Mono M7 Pro

The most automated machine at this price. A 10.1-inch 14K screen at 16.8 x 24.8 micron pixels, 223 x 126 x 230 mm of build volume, dual linear rails on the Z axis, a vat that holds resin between 20 and 40 degrees Celsius, and 130 mm per hour on ordinary resin rising to 170 mm per hour on fast-curing resin. Its headline feature is automatic resin fill and recycle: a pump keeps the vat topped up from a bottle during the print and drains it afterwards.

Best for: long unattended prints and anyone who hates decanting resin by hand.
Watch out for: the pump is the part reviewers complain about. Resin is sticky and pump tubing is genuinely unpleasant to clean, and it is one more thing that can fail. If you do not need it, the Saturn 4 Ultra does the same work with fewer moving parts.
Where: Amazon India listed it at Rs 57,999, and 3Idea and 3D Protofarm both matched that. Manufacturer page: Anycubic Photon Mono M7 Pro.

Creality Halot Mage

Creality is far better known for filament machines, and its resin line has never quite had the following that Elegoo and Anycubic enjoy. The Halot Mage is the one Indian sellers stock, at an 8K screen. Creality's current version is the Halot Mage S, which moves to a 10.1-inch 14K panel at 16.8 x 24.8 microns, 223 x 126 x 230 mm, up to 150 mm per hour, and a built-in air purifier that pulls fumes through a carbon filter before they reach the room.

Best for: the air purifier, if you are printing in a flat with no window in the room.
Watch out for: at Rs 49,999 for the older 8K version, the Saturn 4 Ultra 12K is better value at Rs 54,000, and it is the machine with the larger community writing resin profiles. Check which version an Indian listing is actually selling before you order - the model names are confusingly close.
Where: 3Idea listed the Halot Mage 8K at Rs 49,999.

Anycubic Photon P1

The newest machine on this list and the one FauxHammer ranks first among medium printers for 2026. It shares the 223 x 126 x 230 mm build volume and 16.8 x 24.8 micron pixels with the M7 Pro, but the engineering underneath is a step up: a ball screw with dual rails driving the Z axis, a ground steel build plate, better than 92 percent light uniformity across the panel, a temperature-controlled vat, and compatibility with thick industrial resins up to 8000 centipoise, which most hobby machines cannot pull through their vats at all.

Best for: dental models, jewellery casting patterns, engineering prototypes - work where dimensional accuracy matters more than turnaround.
Watch out for: it is slow, at 25 to 35 mm per hour against 150 for a Saturn. That is a deliberate trade for accuracy, and it is the wrong trade if you are batching out miniatures.
Where: Robocraze listed it at Rs 71,299. Manufacturer page: Anycubic Photon P1.

Anycubic Photon Mono M7 Max

The cheapest genuinely large machine sold in India. The build volume is 298 x 164 x 300 mm, or 14.7 litres, which swallows a helmet or a bust in one piece. It has a temperature-controlled vat, improved ACF film, automatic resin recycling and a flip-top lid that does not fall off when you lift it.

Best for: cosplay props, large busts, dioramas, or forty miniatures on one plate.
Watch out for: the pixels are 46 x 46 microns, more than twice as coarse as everything above. Stretching a 7K screen across 13.6 inches is what causes that. It is still far finer than any filament printer, but if you print 32 mm figures, a Saturn will beat it on detail. It is also slower than the small machines, at up to 86 mm per hour on fast resin.

Large-format machines above Rs 1 lakh

These are bought by studios, dental labs and jewellery workshops, and they are a poor first printer for a specific reason: a failed print on a big plate wastes several hundred millilitres of resin and half a day, so the cost of learning on one is high.

Elegoo Jupiter 2

A 302 x 162 x 300 mm build volume with a 16K screen at 20 x 26 micron pixels, which is the rare combination of big and fine. Elegoo has been slow shipping it - it was shown in 2025 and took a long time to reach retail - but Indian sellers now list it. Manufacturer page: Elegoo Jupiter 2. Hydrotech 3D and 3D Protofarm both listed it around Rs 1,06,000.

Uniformation GK3 Ultra

A 13.5-inch 16K machine at 20 x 26 microns with two things the others lack: a properly heated vat and a resin feeder that refills from a cartridge, both of which stop mattering on small prints and start mattering a great deal when one model drinks half a litre. Reviewers consistently rank it the best large-format printer of 2026. Manufacturer page: Uniformation GK3 Ultra, listed by Hydrotech 3D at Rs 1,50,000.

Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K S

The plain, reliable big one, in the same spirit as the Sonic Mini. Few smart features, a large screen, and a reputation for running in print farms without drama. Listed by Hydrotech 3D at Rs 1,50,000.

Formlabs Form 4 and professional machines

The Formlabs Form 4 is not competing with anything above. Its pixels are 50 microns, which is coarser than every hobby machine on this list, and it costs from about USD 4,069 direct from Formlabs. What you buy instead is repeatability: a stated dimensional tolerance of plus or minus 0.15 percent, a resin tank rated for 75,000 layers, a closed ecosystem of validated materials including medical and dental grades, and a failure rate low enough that a business can quote delivery dates against it. In India it comes through specialist resellers rather than the marketplaces above, and the sensible way to buy it is to talk to one, not to click.

If your reason for wanting a Form 4 is print quality, buy a Saturn. If it is a regulated application or a contract you have to hit, that is what the money is for.

Higher screen resolution stops mattering early

Manufacturers compete on the K number because it is easy to print on a box. It stops buying you anything at around 22 microns per pixel. Below that, the limit is not the screen, it is the resin: ultraviolet light scatters sideways in the liquid, so a cured layer is always slightly wider than the pixel that made it, and an 18 micron pixel does not give you a sharper sword edge than a 22 micron one. Every printer on this list except the M7 Max and the Form 4 is already past that threshold.

What still separates these machines is the light source uniformity, the release film, whether the vat is heated, and whether the Z axis is rigid enough not to wobble. Those are the specs worth reading. What resin printing costs to run

Budget for these before you order the printer, because they are not optional and they arrive in the first month.

  • Resin: standard 405 nm resin from Sunlu or Elegoo runs about Rs 1,250 to Rs 2,200 per kilogram in India. ABS-like resin, which is tougher and less brittle, is around Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000. Speciality resins - castable for jewellery, flexible, high-temperature - run from Rs 4,000 to Rs 15,000 per kilogram. Resin also has a shelf life of roughly twelve months, so buying five kilos to save money usually does not.
  • Isopropyl alcohol: every print comes out coated in uncured resin and has to be washed. Use 99 percent isopropyl alcohol, not the 70 percent chemist bottle, which is mostly water and leaves a film. Plan on a litre or two in rotation. Water-washable resin avoids this entirely and is worth considering for a first printer.
  • A wash and cure station: a tub that spins the print in alcohol and then a chamber that finishes hardening it under ultraviolet light. You can do both by hand with a jar and a UV lamp, and plenty of people do, but the station is the single upgrade owners recommend most.
  • Release film: the transparent sheet in the floor of the vat is a wearing part. Siraya Tech puts standard FEP at roughly 40 prints; Anycubic rates its nFEP and ACF films at about 30,000 layers against 10,000 for plain FEP. If it tears mid-print, resin leaks onto the screen and you have a much more expensive problem.
  • The screen: the LCD panel is a consumable too. Monochrome panels are rated at around 2,000 printing hours, and replacements are a normal spare part. Confirm your model's screen is available in India before you buy the printer.
  • Nitrile gloves and a mask: nitrile, not latex. Latex does not stop resin.

Add it up and the first month costs several thousand rupees beyond the machine. That is a fair price for a hobby you will use. It is a poor price for three parts you need once - and if that is your situation, the honest answer is that you do not need to buy anything at all. Resin is a skin and lung hazard

This section is the one people skip and then regret. Uncured resin is made of acrylates and methacrylates, and safety guidance from UL's Chemical Insights institute and from the US National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health treats it as a skin and respiratory sensitiser: the first exposures may do nothing, and then one day your hands react to a drop of it and keep reacting for the rest of your life. The published guidance is consistent and short.

  • Nitrile or neoprene gloves, never latex, and change them when they get resin on them.
  • Ultraviolet-blocking safety glasses when you handle the vat.
  • Ventilation is the control that matters most - resin printing releases volatile organic compounds, which are chemicals that evaporate at room temperature and that you then breathe. A window and an exhaust path beat an air purifier. Do not run one in a closed bedroom.
  • Never pour resin, or the alcohol you washed prints in, down a drain. Leave the waste in sunlight or under a UV lamp until it hardens into a solid, then bin the solid.
  • Keep the whole setup away from children and pets, and off carpet.

None of this is a reason not to buy a resin printer. It is a reason to buy the ventilation at the same time. This is also the honest difference from filament printing, where a PLA or PETG machine in a spare room needs ventilation you probably already have and no gloves at all.

Where to buy in India and what to check

Amazon India carries most of the mainstream models and is usually the fastest route, and the specialist sellers listed earlier often price below it and know the products properly. Four things to verify before paying, in any case.

  • Who the importer is. On Amazon India, several Elegoo listings are imported by WOL3D rather than sold by Elegoo, which is normal and fine - but it means the warranty claim goes to the importer, so check the listing states one.
  • That the plug and voltage are Indian. Grey imports - stock brought in outside the official channel - sometimes arrive with an EU plug and no local support.
  • That a GST invoice is issued, which you need for any warranty claim and for the input credit if you are buying through a business.
  • That consumables are stocked for that exact model: release film, a spare vat, a spare screen. This is the check people skip and it is the one that decides whether the printer is still running in year three.

One more thing worth knowing: the marketplace list prices on these machines are often theatre. A Mars 5 Ultra listed against a Rs 99,999 maximum retail price and selling at Rs 35,499 is not a 64 percent discount, it is the price. Compare the actual selling prices across three sellers and ignore the crossed-out number entirely.

Who should not buy a resin printer

If the parts you want are functional - brackets, enclosures, jigs, replacement clips, anything that has to survive being dropped - a filament printer is the correct tool and a resin one is the wrong one. Standard resin is brittle and it degrades in sunlight. For that work, start from 3D printers ranked best to worst by quality and reliability instead, and if you are buying on a student budget, the machines students should avoid will save you a mistake.
